Police Officer Kerrie Cathcart holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Science in forensic science and a Master of Science in criminal justice; both from Marshall University. Officer Cathcart is currently assigned to the Forensic Investigation Unit at the Huntington Police Department, in Huntington, West Virginia. She specializes in crime scene investigation and latent print examination.

Previous employment includes three years with the State of Alaska Crime Lab. She is currently a member of the International Association for Identification (IAI), Chesapeake Bay Division of the IAI, and the Scientific Working Group on Shoe Print & Tire Tread Evidence (SWGTREAD). She has been an IAI- certified latent print examiner and certified crime scene analyst since 2003 and has been in the forensic science field since 1999.

She also teaches graduate courses through Marshall University’s Forensic Science Master of Science Program. She is the lead instructor in classes with crime scene emphasis. She teaches Introduction to Crime Scene & Death Investigation, Advanced Crime Scene Investigation & Bloodstain Pattern Analysis.
