Crime Scene Unit and Property Unit Supervisor, IAI, Texas IAI

Jennifer Walker has been a crime scene investigator for 12 years. Ms. Walker began her career with the Richardson, Texas Police Department in 1998 and in 2000, continued with the Plano, Texas Police Department. In 2004, she was hired by the Frisco, Texas Police Department as the crime scene unit and property and evidence unit manager, a position she still holds today.

Ms. Walker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Baylor University, a master’s degree in criminal justice from Boston University and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in forensic science from the University of Florida. In 2002, she graduated from the 10-week National Forensic Academy in Knoxville, Tennessee, which included training in clandestine grave excavation and surface scatter recovery at the worldrenowned Forensic Anthropological Research Facility, or the more recognized “Body Farm.”

Ms. Walker has completed over 1200 hours of formal classroom forensic training in homicide investigation, death investigation, bloodstain pattern analysis, photography, latent print comparison and identification, the use of alternate light sources for the recovery of latent print evidence, weapons of mass destruction, crime scene reconstruction, NIBIN operation and footwear detection, recovery and examination. She has processed over 3600 crime scenes during her career.

Ms. Walker is a certified latent print examiner and a certified senior crime scene analyst as awarded by the International Association for Identification. She is also a certified instructor through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) and is an active instructor in crime scene processing, crime scene photography, evidence collection and preservation, DNA evidence matters and crime scene safety. She is a member of both the International Association for Identification as well as the Texas Division of the IAI where she is currently serving on the program committee. She has been certified as an expert witness in latent print comparison and identification as well as crime scene investigation in both county and district courts in the State of Texas.
