Eileen Allen is a registered nurse, actively practicing in New Jersey for more than 25
years. She is nationally certified as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner of adolescents and
adults and has been awarded status as a Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic
Nursing.
Mrs. Allen has been the coordinator of the Monmouth County Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program since its inception in 1996. She has performed more than 200 sexual assault examinations of pediatric, adolescent and adult victims. She supervises the work of 15 nurse examiners who contract their services to the SANE/SART program in Monmouth County. She also coordinates all county Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) training and activations. In addition, she is an adjunct faculty member at Monmouth University teaching forensic pathology and the SANE adolescent/adult and pediatric courses. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from the University of Delaware in 1983 and her Master of Science in forensic nursing from Monmouth University in 2004. Mrs. Allen is a member of the board of directors for the International Association of Forensic Nurses and recently became the president-elect for this organization. She has lectured on interpersonal violence and sexual assault related topics for Monmouth University, Princeton University, Columbia University, Seton Hall University, Ryder University, the College of New Jersey, Rutgers and the New Jersey State Police Academy. Additionally, she has presented numerous programs and continuing education offerings to local, national and international multidisciplinary audiences.
Mrs. Allen serves on the Board of the Regional Perinatal Consortium where she is an active member of the Domestic Violence Task Group and the Child Fatality Review Board. She has worked on a number of regional and national level research projects and grant- funded programs focusing on a variety of topics associated with forensics and education.
In her capacity as a forensic nurse and nationally certified SANE, she has testified as both a fact and an expert witness on the topic of sexual assault examinations of adolescents and adults in criminal and civil courts in various jurisdictions in New Jersey and in Federal District Court in North Carolina.
